*Fall term: Students may be allowed to depart from the program early if planning to be in-term at ArtCenter during the spring term. Please contact studyaway@artcenter.edu for more details.

**Spring term dates overlap with the summer term at ArtCenter, plan accordingly.

Students must attend an exchange student orientation prior to the start of the term. More information will be provided upon acceptance to the program.

ELIGIBILITY

Undergraduate Students:

Must have completed at least four terms of study prior to exchange term as an undergraduate student in Illustration, Graphic, Product, Interaction or Environmental Design.

1) Must have at least one term remaining upon return to Art Center

2) Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0

3) Must not be on academic or disciplinary probation at the time of application

If you do not meet the minimum eligibility requirements you still may be able to apply.

COST

If you are accepted to the program and choose to commit, you will be responsible for providing a $200 non-refundable deposit. This deposit is due within one week of your acceptance and ensures your commitment as a downpayment towards the total program fee.

PROGRAM FEE

The cost of this exchange opportunity is the same as ArtCenter tuition for the term.

Additional costs that you will be responsible for that are NOT included are: round-trip airfare LAX-CPH (~$700 to $1,200) and train to Småland (~$100), passport ($135), student resident permit (~$375), health insurance (~$TBD), and daily personal expenses—meals, souvenirs, toiletries, supplies, local transportation, local cell phone & minutes, etc. (~$500-$600 a month).

ABOUT THE PROGRAM:

To study at Linnaeus University means being part of an environment characterized by knowledge and development. Linnaeus dares to be bold and is committed to new scientific ideas by promoting curiosity, creativity, companionship, and utility. The Department of Design has about 300 students and a teaching staff of about 30 designers, art historians, and artists and professors. The department also has a huge number of guest lecturers, specializing in fine arts, design, the history of art, sustainable development, sociology, ethnology, philosophy, history, engineering, economics, marketing and other subjects. Linnaeus strives to design purposefully by using design, and its inherent creativity, to achieve changes towards a future of sustainability. ABOUT SMÅLAND, SWEDEN:

The Växjö campus is home to the Design + Change program and is located in the center of the city. The city of 90,000 has been declared the “Greenest City in Europe.” It was an important trading center as early as the eighth century and is located in the heart of the “Kingdom of Crystal,” so-called because world famous glassworks such as Kosta Boda and Orrefors are located there. Växjö is also known for its high-tech industry, paper and furniture manufacturing.The city is surrounded by countryside, forests and water, but also has one of the longest pedestrian shopping streets in Sweden and a number of museums and galleries.
