ABOUT THE PROGRAM:
To study at Linnaeus University means being part of an environment characterized by knowledge and development. The Department of Design has about 300 students and a teaching staff of about 30 designers, art historians, and artists and professors. The department also has a huge number of guest lecturers, specializing in fine arts, design, the history of art, sustainable development, sociology, ethnology, philosophy, history, engineering, economics, marketing and other subjects. Linnaeus strives to design purposefully by using design, and its inherent creativity, to achieve changes towards a future of sustainability. ABOUT SMÅLAND, SWEDEN:
The Växjö campus is home to the Design + Change program and is located in the center of the city. The city of 90,000 has been declared the “Greenest City in Europe.” It was an important trading center as early as the eighth century and is located in the heart of the “Kingdom of Crystal,” so-called because world famous glassworks such as Kosta Boda and Orrefors are located there. Växjö is also known for its high-tech industry, paper and furniture manufacturing.The city is surrounded by countryside, forests and water, but also has one of the longest pedestrian shopping streets in Sweden and a number of museums and galleries.
