ABOUT UDK

The origins of the Berlin University of the Arts (UdK) date back to 1696. The university is one of the largest institutions of music and arts in the world. It has four colleges specializing in Fine Arts, Architecture, Media and Design, Music and the Performing Arts with around 3,600 students. The UdK is one of only three universities in Germany to unite the faculties of art and music in one institution. The UdK is well-known for its trend-setting pedagogical approach, allowing for interdisciplinary approaches to study and problem solving, experimentation, and intuition. Students focus on theory and history, image and space, planning and design, construction, and technology. Much of the work centers on projects and experimentation is encouraged. Note that the language of instruction is German. For more information about the exchange program at UdK, please visit their website.
